The updated version of Bill SB 182 now includes specific provisions regarding attorney access to prisoners in county jails. It requires sheriffs to allow attorneys to meet with prisoners if the meeting is requested by the prisoner or their family, or if it pertains to a civil rights issue. This change is important because it clarifies the conditions under which attorneys can access their clients in jail, ensuring that prisoners have better support for their legal needs, particularly in civil rights cases.
