The updated bill SB 54 now allows participants in the South Dakota deferred compensation plan who are at least 59.5 years old to choose to receive in-service distributions from their plan without stopping their contributions. Previously, participants had more restrictions on when they could access their funds. This change is significant because it gives older workers more flexibility and access to their retirement savings while still being able to save for the future.
