Plain-language change summary

The amendment to Bill S 712 establishes a new rule stating that solicitors in South Carolina cannot represent clients for a fee or appear in court in their elected district for two years after they leave office. This change aims to prevent potential conflicts of interest and ensure that former solicitors do not influence legal proceedings in their previous jurisdictions shortly after their term ends. By implementing this cooling-off period, the law seeks to promote fairness and integrity within the legal system.
