The recent amendment to Bill S 86 allows South Carolina teachers who have held a professional teaching certificate for 20 years and have been teaching for the same duration to renew their certification annually simply by participating in required professional development. This change simplifies the renewal process for these experienced educators by removing additional requirements that were previously necessary. This matters because it recognizes and values the long-term commitment of veteran teachers, making it easier for them to maintain their certification and continue to contribute to the education system.
