Whereas, the South Carolina Senate is pleased to learn that Corey Bedenbaugh has been named the 2026 South Carolina Teacher of the Year;
and Whereas, Mr.
Bedenbaugh earned a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Phoenix and is in his eleventh year of teaching.
Before his tenure at Batesburg-Leesville Middle School, he taught for several years at Pelion Middle School;
and Whereas, known for his dedication and unwavering commitment to his students, Mr.
Bedenbaugh is making a lasting impact as an eighth-grade social studies teacher at Batesburg-Leesville Middle School;
and Whereas, Mr.
Bedenbaugh is committed to helping students succeed both in and out of the classroom, serving as a junior varsity girls basketball coach, sponsoring the school's student council and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and creating the program "Bow Ties with Bedenbaugh," a mentorship program that teaches life skills to young men;
and Whereas, through his work, Mr.
Bedenbaugh continues to shape the next generation with integrity, compassion, and purpose;
and Whereas, the Senate is grateful for Mr.
Bedenbaugh's dedicated service to the people and the State of South Carolina and takes great pleasure in saluting him for being named the 2026 South Carolina Teacher of the Year. Now, therefore, Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Corey Bedenbaugh for being named the 2026 South Carolina Teacher of the Year.
