Plain-language change summary

The updated version of Bill H 3074 introduces a significant change regarding alimony by stipulating that periodic alimony will only be available for marriages lasting at least fifteen years. This means that spouses in shorter marriages may not receive ongoing financial support post-divorce. It matters because it sets a clear threshold for alimony eligibility, which could encourage couples to consider the financial implications of divorce based on the duration of their marriage.
