The updated version of Bill H 4581 now includes a provision that prohibits certain hotels from charging transactional fees when guests pay with cash or check. This change defines transactional fees as costs related to payment infrastructure, aiming to protect consumers from extra charges just for using cash or check. This matters because it ensures fairness for guests who may not use credit or debit cards, thereby promoting more equitable payment options in the hospitality industry.
