The recent amendments to Bill S 390 primarily update references to federal and state education laws and assessments. Specifically, it replaces the outdated "No Child Left Behind Act" with the more current "Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)" and changes the name of the state assessment from "SCPASS" to "SC READY." These changes are important because they ensure that the regulations reflect the latest educational standards and terminology, allowing for easier future updates without the need for additional legislative actions.
