The recent amendment to Bill S 287 makes several important changes concerning the regulation of electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) in South Carolina. Notably, it introduces a $2,000 non-refundable fee for manufacturers when they first submit their product for certification, aiming to cover the costs of processing these certifications. Additionally, the amendment clarifies deadlines for distributors and retailers to remove non-compliant products from their inventory after being flagged. These changes are significant as they enhance oversight of ENDS sales, which can protect public health, especially for younger consumers.
