The recent amendment to Bill H 4397 stipulates that the budget for the Greenville County School District must now receive approval from the Greenville County Council. Starting from the 2025-2026 fiscal year, the school district's board of trustees is required to submit their proposed budget to the county council by May 31 each year. This change matters because it adds an additional layer of oversight and accountability in how the school district manages its finances, ensuring that local government has a say in educational funding decisions.
