The recent amendment to Bill S 530 adds a new provision that states if local zoning officials determine that a property is not being used in accordance with zoning laws, any permits for that property become invalid, and all construction must stop immediately. This change is significant because it reinforces the authority of zoning officials to ensure compliance with land use regulations, which could help prevent unauthorized developments and protect community standards.

Code is amended by adding:
Section 6-29-815. (a) the property is brought into compliance with the applicable zoning ordinances, including any required rezoning or variance;
or (b) a court of competent jurisdiction authorizes construction or development to proceed pending final resolution, and may impose such conditions or penalties as authorized by law;
