The recent amendment to Bill H 3778 clarifies that school districts in South Carolina can waive make-up days for public schools missed due to inclement weather, specifically Hurricane Helene during the 2024-2025 school year. Additionally, if a district waives a make-up day, this waiver will also apply to approved home schooling programs and charter schools in that district. This change is significant as it provides flexibility to school districts to better respond to weather emergencies, ensuring students and families are not unduly burdened by extended school hours or days.
