The recent changes to Bill H 5397 modify a section of South Carolina law that lists certain substances considered illegal drugs. Specifically, it updates the definitions and inclusion of several hallucinogenic substances known as substituted tryptamines. This matters because these changes could impact law enforcement practices and drug policy in the state, ensuring that the legislation is current with emerging substances that pose risks to public health.
