Plain-language change summary

The recent changes to Bill H 4263 prohibit the use of specific artificial dyes—such as Blue 1, Blue 2, and Green 3—in meals and snacks served to students in public schools and open-enrollment charter schools. This new rule only applies to food purchased through contracts that are entered into or renewed after June 30, 2025, and also extends to snacks shared during school celebrations with teachers' approval. This amendment is significant because it aims to promote student health by reducing exposure to potentially harmful food additives.
