Document has been reformatted to meet World Wide Web specifications.)                 A house RESOLUTION   to recognize and honor the lucy beckham high school boys volleyball team, coaches, and school officials for an outstanding season and to congratulate them for winning the 2024 south carolina class aaaaa division II state championship title.    Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the members of the Lucy Beckham High School volleyball team of Mount Pleasant garnered the state title at the state match on Saturday, November 9, 2024;
and   Whereas, to the delight of their exuberant fans, the Lucy Beckham Bengals defeated a fine Indian Land High School from Lancaster 3-2, in the best-of-five sets to capture the state trophy;
and   Whereas, Lucy Beckham extended their postseason success as they skirted past the Indian Land Warriors 3-2 in the championship game, making it eight in a row for the Bengals.  They opened the fifth and final set jumping off to a 4-0 lead before an Indian Land timeout.  The Bengals, playing with more determination, pushed the lead to 6-0 before the Warriors scored.  Lucy Beckham surged ahead to make it 9-2 before another timeout;
and   Whereas, the Warriors made a small run, but could not overcome the quick start by Lucy Beckham, which took the final set 15-8.  After a difficult second and third set, the Bengals forged ahead in the fourth with the first run of the set, going up 8-3, before an Indian Land timeout;
and   Whereas, the Lucy Beckham Bengals scored three more points after the timeout to go up 11-3.
They continued to surge ahead as the set went on, and procured a 21-9 lead before closing out the set to tie the match at two and force a fifth and final set;
and   Whereas, in a sport that demands agility, strategy, and strength, Head Coach Adam El Hassan and his skilled coaching staff maximized their own athletic experience and training to forge a championship caliber team and teach these athletes lessons that will prove invaluable through life both on and off the courts;
and   Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciates the pride and recognition that the Lucy Beckham volleyball players have brought to their school and their community, and the members look forward to following their continued achievements in the days ahead.
Now, therefore,   Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
  That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Lucy Beckham High School boys volleyball team, coaches, and school officials for an outstanding season and to congratulate them for winning the 2024 South Carolina Class AAAAA Division II State Championship title.    Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Anna Dassing and Coach Adam El Hassan of Lucy Beckham High School.
