Plain-language change summary

The updated version of Bill HB 2150 significantly refines the definition of a "data center." The new definition specifies that a data center must not only house working servers and have backup energy sources and cooling systems, but it also must have a peak electric demand of 10 megawatts or greater. This change is important because it targets larger data centers, ensuring that the legislation focuses on facilities with a substantial energy footprint, which is crucial for environmental and regulatory management. Additionally, the previous sections on energy and water consumption reporting requirements were removed, streamlining the bill and potentially reducing the compliance burden for smaller facilities.
