The bill amendments remove the requirement that the funds for the COVID-19 Local Food Pantry Assistance Grant Program come specifically from the federal "Coronavirus Relief Fund" established by the CARES Act. This change allows for greater flexibility in sourcing the $4 million appropriation for the program. As a result, the Department of Human Services may utilize alternative funding sources to support local food pantries.
