Plain-language change summary

The amendment updates the accidental death benefit provisions for the Police and Firemen’s Retirement System. Notably, it maintains the pension of 70% of the member's last year's compensation or a $50,000 pension, whichever is greater, for the surviving spouse or children, while emphasizing that this applies when death follows an accident not involving willful negligence. This ensures that the financial benefits available to the surviving family members in such tragic cases remain consistent and clear.
