The amendments to House Bill 3585 expand the ways court reporters can record proceedings. Previously, they were limited to using steno-masks, but the updated language allows for a variety of methods, including machines or other approved technologies. This change is important because it offers greater flexibility and efficiency in court reporting, potentially improving the accuracy and accessibility of court records. Additionally, the bill gives the Supreme Court authority to oversee compensation arrangements for court reporters, ensuring they are properly compensated even during lapses in certification.
