The recent amendment to HB 2049 emphasizes the importance of ensuring that Medicaid managed care plans comply with federal and state requirements related to mental health and substance use services. It requires these plans to regularly analyze their practices to confirm they are not unfairly limiting benefits for these types of care. This change is crucial as it aims to improve access to necessary mental health and substance abuse treatments, ensuring that these services are treated equally to other medical benefits.
