Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to the Bus Passenger Safety Act clarify and expand the definitions related to bus transportation and the responsibilities regarding passenger safety. For example, the definition of "passenger" is refined to ensure it clearly encompasses everyone utilizing bus services. Additionally, the language regarding what constitutes a "deadly or dangerous weapon" is updated to include any weapon capable of causing severe injury, except those legally carried for self-defense. These changes are important because they provide clearer standards for regulating safety on public buses, aiming to better protect passengers and ensure that transportation companies are held accountable for any unlawful acts.
