Plain-language change summary

In the recent amendments to Senate Bill 39, specific criteria were clarified regarding who is prohibited from carrying or using shotguns. The updated version includes more explicit terms related to prior convictions and conditions that would disqualify an individual from firearm ownership, emphasizing serious offenses such as assault and battery as well as issues related to intoxication. These changes aim to enhance public safety by ensuring that those who have demonstrated dangerous behavior are not permitted to possess firearms, which matters because it seeks to reduce potential risks in the community.
