Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to Bill HB 2131 clarify the role of district attorneys when advising grand juries, ensuring that they cannot be informed about whether there is enough evidence to proceed with a case. This change matters because it protects the integrity of the grand jury process by keeping their deliberations independent and focused solely on the evidence at hand, without external influences about sufficiency. Additionally, the bill outlines specific procedures for releasing testimony and managing civil litigation that overlaps with criminal cases, which can help streamline the legal process and protect the rights of individuals involved.
