The recent amendments to House Bill 4032 add a requirement for the State Department of Energy to evaluate and prioritize potential emergency fuel storage sites across Oregon, especially in areas likely to be affected by disasters. Additionally, the bill now includes a funding provision, allocating $250,000 from the General Fund to support this evaluation through the end of June 2027. This change is significant because it underscores the state’s commitment to improving disaster preparedness by ensuring that fuel reserves are strategically located for quick access during emergencies.
