Plain-language change summary

The latest version of HB 4092 includes several changes aimed at improving child safety systems in vehicles. Notably, it adds clear definitions for terms related to these systems, such as "child safety system" and "retailer." The bill also strengthens requirements for retailers and online platforms by prohibiting them from selling child safety systems that do not meet federal standards, and it mandates that they must disclose compliance information to consumers. These updates are significant because they aim to ensure that all child safety products sold in Oregon provide adequate protection for children, making it easier for parents to choose safe options.
