Plain-language change summary

The bill SB 1280 has been amended to extend the expiration date of an excise tax on oil and gas from July 1, 2026, to July 1, 2031. This means that the tax, which amounts to 0.095% of the gross value of oil produced, will continue to be collected for an additional five years. This change is significant because it provides continued funding for state programs that rely on this tax revenue, impacting both the economy and public services in Oklahoma.
