The recent changes to Senate Bill 2001 introduce new tax exemptions for homeowners whose properties were acquired by the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority for turnpike projects. Specifically, it adds a provision that allows these homeowners to qualify for an additional exemption on their homestead property taxes. This matters because it helps mitigate the financial impact on residents who may have lost their homes to public infrastructure projects, ensuring they receive some relief from property tax expenses.
