What changed in the latest version

In the latest version of SB 1985, the bill now explicitly authorizes the investment of state retirement funds in certain digital assets, with a clear limit on the amount of funds that can be invested. Additionally, the bill adds a definition of Bitcoin, specifying it as a decentralized digital currency. These changes are important because they outline how state retirement systems can explore new investment opportunities while also providing safeguards through investment limits. This could potentially enhance the financial sustainability of pension funds.
