The amendments to SB 1592 primarily focus on how insurance rates are determined and regulated. Key changes include allowing the Insurance Commissioner to assess whether rates are excessive in specific situations, especially in noncompetitive markets, and requiring all insurers to submit their rate information for review. Additionally, there's a new provision that prohibits classifying risks based on the religion of the insured, which helps ensure fair treatment for all individuals. These changes aim to enhance consumer protection by promoting transparency and fairness in the insurance market.
