Plain-language change summary

The amendment to SB 1552 updates the population thresholds that determine which counties can adopt or amend a County Home Rule Charter. Specifically, it changes the population cap for counties from 550,000 to 875,000, and for the metropolitan area municipalities from 250,000 to 700,000. This change allows more counties with larger populations to have greater local governance flexibility, which could lead to tailored solutions that better meet their community needs. Overall, it aims to empower more county governments in Oklahoma to manage themselves effectively.
