Plain-language change summary

The updated version of Bill SB 490 clarifies provisions regarding how student athletes can earn money from their name, image, and likeness rights (NIL). It emphasizes that these athletes can receive compensation without any penalties, as long as they comply with specific collegiate athletic association guidelines. This change is important because it helps ensure that student athletes can monetize their personal branding while still maintaining their college athletics eligibility, promoting fairer opportunities for young athletes.
