Plain-language change summary

The updated bill SB 504 introduces amendments that clarify marriage eligibility requirements by imposing an age restriction, stating that individuals must be at least eighteen years old to marry unless specific parental consent is granted. Additionally, it emphasizes the need for parental authority to be present when issuing a marriage license to an underage applicant. This change is significant as it aims to ensure that minors are protected and that their guardians are involved in such important decisions.
