Plain-language change summary

The amendments to House Bill 1322 include new regulations on ambulance service billing and changes to emergency medical services communication protocols. Notably, ambulance service providers are now prohibited from collecting or billing patients more than the amount covered by their insurance, which protects residents from surprise medical bills. Additionally, the bill modifies how communication methods are regulated for emergency medical services, allowing the use of personal devices like cell phones while still ensuring that standard protocols are followed. These changes are significant because they aim to enhance transparency in medical billing and improve emergency response communication.
