The recent changes to House Bill 1130 enhance support for teachers pursuing National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) certification. The bill now specifies that teachers can receive up to three days of paid leave and that the state will lend them the participation fee for the certification program, provided they meet certain criteria, such as having three years of teaching experience in North Carolina public schools. These updates aim to encourage more teachers to pursue professional development, which can lead to better educational outcomes for students.
