Plain-language change summary

The revised version of Bill SB 214 focuses solely on the Town of Four Oaks by removing references to the City of Creedmoor, simplifying the deannexation process. It retains important provisions regarding the validity of tax liens, ensuring that any outstanding taxes can still be collected even after properties are removed from the town limits. This change matters because it clarifies the legal status for residents and officials in Four Oaks while streamlining the legislative process for this specific locality. The bill will take effect on June 30, 2025, impacting municipal tax responsibilities for properties as of January 1, 2025.
