The recent amendment to House Bill 787 introduces a provision that allows the Education Assistance Authority to make matching contributions to the Parental Savings Trust Fund. Additionally, it adds a tax deduction of up to $2,000 for individuals (or $4,000 for married couples) who contribute to this fund, which is aimed at helping families save for education expenses. These changes are significant as they provide financial incentives to support educational savings, potentially easing the burden of college costs for families in North Carolina.
