What changed in the latest version
235 added · 234 removedPlain-language change summary
The latest version of House Bill 20 has added the phrase "Each Representative shall represent, as nearly as may be, an equal number of inhabitants," clarifying that redistricting must ensure equal representation based on district populations. Additionally, the amendment introduces a mandate for the General Assembly to create an independent process for revising electoral districts following the decennial census. This change is significant as it aims to enhance fairness in the redistricting process, reducing potential gerrymandering and ensuring that districts reflect population changes more accurately.
