What changed in the latest version
193 added · 191 removedPlain-language change summary
In the latest version of House Bill 697, a specific reference to physician assistants being able to make referrals to genetic counselors was removed. This change is significant because it limits the pool of healthcare professionals who can authorize patients to access genetic counseling services, potentially impacting patient care options in North Carolina. By narrowing the referral authority, the bill might streamline the process for genetic counseling, but it could also restrict access for some patients who rely on physician assistants for their healthcare needs.
