What changed in the latest version

The latest version of House Bill 655 now includes provisions that mandate charter schools to change any American Indian mascots they may have within two years of receiving notice. If a school fails to do so, the State Board can withhold part of the superintendent's salary for each student in that school. This change aims to promote cultural sensitivity and ensure compliance with state guidelines regarding school mascots.
