In the latest version of House Bill 520, the enforcement section has been modified to clarify the legal actions available for telephone subscribers who receive illegal telemarketing calls. The main change is that if a caller disguises their number to mislead the recipient, the subscriber can take action not only against the telemarketer but also ensures that fines can be imposed. This matters because it strengthens protections for consumers and provides more tools for holding telemarketers accountable for deceptive practices.
