In the latest version of House Bill 608, new lines specify that it will be unlawful for anyone to send unsolicited bulk commercial emails without proper authority, clarifying what "without authority" means in this context. The amendment now also includes a reference to personnel files, highlighting that unauthorized access to these documents is also considered unlawful. These changes are important because they strengthen protections against unauthorized digital activities, particularly regarding commercial emails and sensitive government employee information. Additionally, the updated wording aims to make the law clearer and more enforceable.
