Plain-language change summary

In the latest version of Senate Bill 609, the language has been updated to clarify that Steele Creek has experienced significant population growth over the past 15 years and that many residents live in unincorporated areas of Mecklenburg County. These details emphasize the need for support from the community and a nonprofit organization to enhance local opportunities. Additionally, the bill aims to secure funding for the Steele Creek Fire and Rescue, which helps ensure that this growing community has the resources it needs for emergency services. These changes matter because they align the bill more closely with the needs of the area, underlining the importance of adequate funding for public safety in a rapidly expanding population.
