The latest version of House Bill 386 includes a provision that requires a monthly transfer of revenue from an additional vehicle registration fee specifically to fund salaries for the State Highway Patrol. Additionally, it clarifies that veterans who receive a vehicle from the federal government due to war-related disabilities will only pay a reduced fee of $1.30 for registration, as long as they continue to own the vehicle. These changes are significant as they aim to enhance financial support for law enforcement and acknowledge the sacrifices made by veterans, ensuring they are not burdened by high registration costs for these vehicles.
