The recent amendments to Senate Bill 86 include clarifications around the eligibility for pension benefits and the process for receiving those benefits once a member reaches the age of 55. Notably, it specifies that members who qualify due to disability can start receiving their pension without having to make the usual monthly payment of $15. These changes are significant as they streamline the process for disabled members, ensuring they receive the financial support they need without additional burdens.
