The updated version of Senate Bill 514 has made some important changes to how it describes privacy requirements for online platforms, especially those targeting minors. Notably, it emphasizes that platforms must provide clear notifications to users about how their data will be used and has added more specific rights that apply to minors using these services. These updates aim to enhance user privacy and ensure that younger audiences are better protected in the digital landscape. This matters because it helps create a safer online environment, ultimately holding platforms more accountable for their handling of personal information.
