Rules, Calendar, and Operations of the House March 17, 2025 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT AMENDING THE WAGE AND HOUR ACT TO ALLOW EMPLOYEES TO USE SICK LEAVE FOR THE CARE OF FAMILY MEMBERS.
Article 2A of Chapter 95 of the General Statutes is amended bybyadding adding a new section to read:
(1) Child.–Abiological,foster,oradoptedchild;astepchild;alegalChild.–Abiological,foster,oradoptedchild;astepchild; ward;achild of a domestic partner;
alegal ward;achild of a domestic partner;
(3) FamilyFamilymember. member.
– Accrued increments of compensated or uncompensated job protected leave provided by an employer to an employee as a benefit of the employment for use bybythe the employee during an absence from the employment for any of the following reasons:
The absence is necessary due to circumstances resulting from the employee, or a family member of the employee, being a victim of *H398-v-1* General Assembly Of North Carolina Session 2025 stalking or domestic or sexual violence, if the leave is to allow the *DRH30175-LR-103* General Assembly Of North Carolina Session 2025 employee to obtain for the employee or the family member medical attention needed to recover from physical or psychological injury or disability caused by stalking or domestic or sexual violence, services from a designated domestic violence agency or other victim services organization, psychological or other counseling, relocation, or legal services, including obtaining a restraining order or preparing for, or participating in, any civil or criminal legal proceeding related to the stalking or domestic or sexual violence.
