In the latest version of Senate Bill 458, the definitions for "Child" and "Family member" were clarified and maintained from a prior draft. The bill continues to define a "Child" as including biological, foster, adopted, and stepchildren, as well as legal wards. It also defines "Family member" to include children, grandchildren, siblings, spouses, domestic partners, and civil partners. This clarity is important because it helps ensure that various family structures are recognized in state laws, which can impact benefits and responsibilities.
