Plain-language change summary

The updates to Senate Bill 647, also known as The Child Promise Act, include the addition of provisions for using federal apprenticeship funds to support the hiring of a program manager and specialists. Additionally, the bill clarifies that the program will focus on fast-tracking licensure for childcare providers with a review period of just 14 days. These changes are significant because they aim to streamline the process for childcare providers to become licensed and enhance the staffing of the program, ultimately improving childcare services for families in North Carolina.
