The revised version of Senate Bill 783 includes a clearer definition of "mental health support personnel" and specifically allocates $19 million for loan repayment grants aimed at helping school mental health workers pay off their student debt. This change is important because it emphasizes the state's commitment to supporting mental health professionals in schools, which can lead to better mental health services for students. By making these funds available, the bill seeks to address the shortage of qualified mental health staff in educational settings.
