The updated version of Bill SB 100 specifies that a sex offender who is a parent or guardian must notify the school principal of their presence when attending various school-related meetings about their child, such as conferences on academic progress or special education services. It also maintains requirements for obtaining permission from school authorities and outlines the need for proper notification regarding the nature and duration of their visit. This change is significant because it ensures greater safety and transparency at schools, while allowing parents or guardians who are sex offenders to participate in their child's education under strict conditions.
